ILiADS Call for Liaison Participation 2020
The ILiADS Steering Committee seeks people who might serve as project liaisons at ILiADS 2020, July 19-24, 2020 at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. We are seeking liaisons with any combination of expertise in digital scholarship tools and methodologies; programming, multimedia, and design experience; or audio/video production skills.
If you have questions or know someone who would make a great liaison, please contact the Liaison Coordinator, Mackenzie Brooks, at brooksm [at] wlu.edu. The liaison committee will begin contacting potential liaisons by March 16, 2020.
If you’d like to be added to the liaison pool, please fill out this form by Friday, March 27, 2020.
Please note: the ILiADS Steering Committee is actively formulating contingency plans related to COVID-19, should that become necessary. We are aware that the Coronavirus has the potential to impact participants’ travel plans and ability to attend ILiADS, and we are working with Macalester College leadership to institute a cancellation and refund policy. Specific details will be shared as soon as they are available. (Macalester’s COVID-19 site provides additional campus preparation details.)
What is a liaison?
ILiADS Liaisons wear several hats – including project manager, coach, and technical expert – as they help shepherd teams from project acceptance in the spring through the week of the summer institute. Critically, liaisons connect project teams with other liaisons and the technical expertise necessary to achieve the teams’ ILiADS goals. Liaisons come from a range of backgrounds, but they share skills in listening, teaching, mediating, and consulting. Past liaisons have expressed that the experience has significantly contributed to their professional development, and liaisons as well as ILiADS teams benefit from connecting with other digital scholarship practitioners during and after the institute.
Liaisons are awarded a modest stipend ($500) to offset travel costs and provided room and board for the duration of the institute. Liaisons will be expected to communicate with their assigned team in the weeks leading up to ILiADS. Liaisons will be expected to attend the entire Institute, including training on July 19th, 2020. A detailed memorandum of understanding will be shared upon selection. Final liaison selection will be determined by the needs of the ILiADS 2020 teams.
